School Mission Statement
Pilot is proud to be a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)school. We believe that the focus should be on what students are doing right, not what they are doing wrong. The goal is to reward students for positive behavior and emphasize rewards. Misbehavior is viewed as a learning opportunity and students are encouraged to learn from their mistakes.
We believe all students can learn to their potential in a school that encourages academic success and good character.
Our Schoolwide Expectations
At Pilot School, I will...
Be Ready to do my Best.
Pilot is a Bucket-Filling and Compliment Giving School!
This year we are enthusiastically continuing a character-development program. We give our "compliments". Compliment-giving is very similar to the Bucket filling concept that we have used in the past. Everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds our good thoughts and feelings. When our buckets are full, we feel happy and when our buckets are empty, we feel sad. Compliments can be given to help fill up these buckets, thus creating good thoughts and feelings.
Compliments can be given when a staff member sees or hears students and classes do and say things that are kind, considerate, caring, and respectful. They reward the student or class with a compliment. When a class's compliment board is filled up, the class earns a classroom reward that is decided upon by the students and the classroom teacher.
During this school year we are encouraging, reminding, and recognizing everyone’s efforts to be complimentary at home, school, and everywhere they go. We are excited about continuing this program and look forward to your support. To learn more about the bucket filling program, visit the Bucket Fillers website, www.bucketfillers101.com.
