They taught the students the importance of respecting the flag, and correct procedures and times to salute the flag. The helpers learned how to carry, unfold, and fold the flag in a correct and very respectful manner. They also learned correct procedures for tying and untying the ropes, attaching the flag, and raising and lowering methods. Chief Blackburn and the JROTC members talked to the students about how and when to fly the flag at half mast and why this is so important. Now that our students have been taught the correct protocol for flag flying, Pilot can once again proudly display our American flag.
